How it works
- Click Upload above the text box and choose your PDF (up to 10 MB on the free tier).
- Check the extracted text and delete headers, footers or page numbers you don't want read.
- Pick a voice and press play.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. If a page is an image with no selectable text, it's converted with Tesseract OCR inside your browser before reading. Blurry scans and two-column layouts can come out in an odd order, so skim the text before you press play.
How long a PDF can it read?
There's no page limit on the PDF itself. Free cloud voices read 5,000 characters per conversion, about a page or two of dense text. For a long document, pick a local voice: it runs in your browser with no character limit.
Lifetime Boost raises cloud conversions to 1,000,000 characters and adds MP3 download, so you can save a whole report as one audio file.
Is my PDF private?
Text extraction and OCR run in your browser. With a local voice, the speech is generated on your device too. Cloud voices send the text to the speech service to create the audio.
